Position Overview: Level 1
This is an entry role into turf maintenance and management of the golf course. Candidates will have no or little experience maintaining a golf course, or the necessary use of tools, machinery or tasks required. The role will have significant supervision and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role and allow candidates to progress into a Level two role in season. This role would support experienced Turf Technicians.
Position Overview: Level 2
This is a basic role in turf maintenance and management of the golf course. Candidates will have some experience (nominally one year) maintaining a golf course, the use of essential tools, machinery and tasks required. Task standards should be easily understood but may still require frequent checking and feedback.
The role will have some supervision and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role and allow candidates to progress into a Level three role in season. This role would support experienced Turf Technicians.
Position Overview: Level 3
This is an experienced role in turf maintenance and management of the golf course. Candidates will have experience (three years’ experience) in most tasks required to maintain a golf course, covering the use of hand tools and machinery. Task standards should be easily understood and will require little to no supervision and feedback.
The role will have some supervision and the candidate will receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role.
Position Overview: Level 4
This is a seasoned experienced role in turf maintenance and management of the golf course. Candidates will have considerable experience (five years’ experience) in all tasks required to maintain a golf course, covering the use of hand tools and machinery. Task standards should be familiar and performed to a high standard and be an example to other team members. This role will require the candidate to lead small teams on projects as and when necessary.
The role will have no supervision, but the candidate will still receive tuition, training, and continual coaching. There would be considerable growth opportunities in learning and development in this role.
Core Accountabilities: Level 1 - 4
- Ability to follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure a continuous safe, clean, and productive work environment always.
- Learn golf terminology and the importance of each playable area such as green, tees fairway.
- Use appropriate PPE equipment where instructed for self and others.
- Complete pre-shift staging of equipment and resources daily, as directed.
- Identify unsafe areas and activities and report hazards immediately.
- Operate gasoline, diesel, and electric utility maintenance equipment in a safe manner.
- Continuous debris and garbage collection throughout the golf resort.
- Implement world-class presentation of daily course set up and golf course conditions are achieved prior to the first tee time each day.
- Report any adverse golf course conditions and all disciplinary issues to the Superintendent.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 1
- General Labor.
- Manual bunker raking.
- Pedestrian rotary hover mowing.
- General turf maintenance (sod, weeding, etc).
- General herbicide applications (supervised).
- Use of light utility vehicles.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 2 (additional to Level One)
- Mechanized bunker rake operations.
- Pedestrian mowing both cylinder and rotary.
- Ride on triple mowing.
- Using light utility vehicles to tow equipment i.e., trailed mechanical blower.
- Hand watering turf (not greens).
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 3 (additional to Levels One and Two)
- Ride on greens roller.
- Large area mowing.
- Greens data collection – Moisture meter, Stimp meter use.
- Hand watering greens.
- Basic tractor driving and towing trailers to intermediate tractor operation using implements.
- Implementing tee service (moving tee markers, devoting, trash removal, etc.).
- Changing cups.
- Undertake many turf maintenance operations i.e., Verti cutting, topdressing, fertilizing, etc.
- General herbicide applications (unsupervised).
- Use of pedestrian aerators (i.e., Toro Procore 648).
Essential Responsibilities & Duties: Level 4 (additional to Levels One, Two and Three)
- Hold a valid Nova Scotia Driving Licence
- Lead Small Teams/projects.
- Any turf Operation
- Basic Skid steer operation
- Basic Excavator Operation
- Tractor + Implement Operation
- Basic Irrigation Repair
Physical demands
- Based on the nature of our business and the service we provide to our guests, to work with us, you must consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional criminal background check every two years.
- Long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, and crouching while performing other duties is to be expected.
- Work outdoors and operate vehicles and equipment for several hours in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls.
- Ability to work with and around pesticides, fertilizers, and registered products and safely follow product labels.

- Seasonal employment Full Time, 6 – 9-month contract.
