Located on over a mile of sandy beach along the coast of Cape Breton, Cabot Cape Breton is seeking a highly motivated Director of Food & Beverage to join our ever-growing operation. In this position, you will lead, inspire, and coach our Food & Beverage teams to deliver an exceptional experience for all guests successfully. With two acclaimed World Top 100 courses, a 10-hole short course, 72 rooms of award-winning accommodation at Cabot Links Lodge, 19 upscale Golf Villas, 14 Cliffs Residences, 21 Hillside Homes & 14 Dunes Cottages, and exquisite dining in four on-site restaurants, Cabot Cape Breton is intended to excite and inspire at every turn. Core Accountabilities:
- Oversee all food and beverage outlets and offerings at Cabot Cape Breton, including all on-site restaurants and dining, indoor/outdoor bar and recreational space(s), provisions and convenience outlet(s), guest grocery orders, room service, private in-accommodation/fire pit dinners, and on-course food and beverage outlets—all while ensuring smooth operations and a seamless guest experience.
- Ensure an outstanding employee experience, team building, and recognition, and drive talent and learning strategies and employee engagement. Create, communicate, and execute a clear vision of success for all team members.
- Foster a guest-centric culture and a positive work environment, empowering staff to deliver exceptional service and resolve guest concerns fairly and promptly.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget, financial reporting, and monitoring of expenses and revenue to meet financial objectives without compromising quality and/or guest satisfaction.
- Set and maintain high levels of cleanliness, hygiene, and workplace safety to protect guests and staff in all Food and beverage areas.
- Interact regularly with guests on site and review post-stay guest survey results to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor vendor performance to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services at competitive prices.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary teams to create memorable wine lists, cocktail offerings, and menus that enhance the Cabot experience and appeal to our diverse clientele.
- Actively participate and collaborate with the Executive Team to develop strong relationships across all departments and ensure clear communication of business goals, updates and strategies are shared with the Food & Beverage teams.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience leading multi-outlet Food and beverage operations, ideally with experience in fine dining, is essential. A proven track record in managing restaurants, bars, and banquets and experience in labour and cost control measures are also essential.
- It is crucial to have in-depth knowledge of food and beverage operations, including service standards, inventory management, cost control, and health and safety regulations.
- Successful record of leading teams that have made a progressive improvement on guest satisfaction and service delivery.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer software applications, including MS Office Suite, point-of-sale systems and inventory management software.
- Positive attitude and excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands:
- Able to work long hours, be flexible and work well under pressure.
- Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing.
- Ascending or descending stairs and ramps.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lifts, carries, pushes, or otherwise moves objects.
