Position: Senior Greenkeeper
Reports To: Links Superintendent/ Assistant Links Superintendent
Department: Golf Course
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible under the direction of the Links Superintendent for the maintenance and development of the golf course and associated areas. Ensuring high standards are maintained at all times. Communicating course information to guests as required. To maintain health and safety practices, whilst taking other employees and guests into consideration.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the greens, fairways, trees etc to the required standard ensuring even wear and tear through effective green keeping practices.
• Greet and acknowledge the guest according to company standards in a timely, friendly and efficient manner.
• Mowing banks, rough and semi rough areas, surrounds and approaches, tees, greens and fairways.
• Scarifying/verticutting turf and aerating turf.
• Applying nutrition and top dressing.
• Repairing divots.
• Irrigating turf.
• Identifying and controlling weeds.
• Identifying and controlling pests.
• Identifying and control of turf diseases and disorders.
• Preparing ground to establish turf.
• Establishing turf.
• Identifying grasses on the golf course.
• Marking of hazards, out of bounds and ground under repair.
• Moving tee markers.
• Maintaining bunkers.
• Maintaining golf course furniture.
• Driving of golf course equipment.
• Knowledge of golf course rules relating to golf course maintenance.
• Preparing ground to establish plants on the golf course.
• Establishing plants on the golf course.
• Maintaining trees and scrubs on the golf course.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform any other assigned reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned or requested by Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Attend meetings.
- Attend Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links Training.
- Maintain a professional image at all times.
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
- Manage your time effectively and efficiently.
- Knowledge of Portmarnock Policies.
PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION
• Previous Greenkeeping experience essential.
• Should have good verbal English.
• Should have excellent communication skills.
• Flexibility to work longer hours as per business demands.
• Be courteous, professional and provide efficient service.
