Position Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent at Cabot Cliffs will bring a strong presence and leadership to support the Superintendent and their
team, through this, help create superior course conditions for our resort
guests. In addition, the successful candidate will bring passion, team
leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to support their department in
an inclusive and supportive manner, all with the united goal of achieving
organizational success.
Core
Accountabilities:
- Ability to train and
oversee the scheduling of all turf maintenance staff.
- Understand comprehensive
course maintenance schedules, including all clubhouse grounds.
- Ensure the prolonged
health and sustainability of the turfgrass with the use of appropriate
applications.
- In conjunction with
the Superintendent, oversee and implement various on-course projects and
development.
- Understanding irrigation
systems and pump house operations.
- Ability to repair
and troubleshoot irrigation issues.
- Have or be willing
to get a Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicators license.
- Assist with all winter snow clearing and maintenance requirements.
- Excellent
communication skills when dealing with guests and colleagues alike.
- Must be proficient
in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Work with other
Agronomy team members to ensure facility success.
Essential
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Implement Cabot operating, human resources, safety policies and procedures for the turf department and golf course operation and maintenance.
- Report daily to the Superintendent on golf course
conditions and concerns, staffing issues and activities, equipment, and
inventory status.
- Implement planned scheduled work duties of department personnel. Monitor performance to ensure safety, customer service standards and productivity goals are achieved. Keep overtime hours to a minimum.
- Coordinate and oversee the Turf Department
personnel's daily activities, monitor performance, provide evaluations, and
implement performance improvement plans as appropriate.
- Ensure that the grounds are maintained per Company
cleanliness and appearance standards.
- Implement all approved agronomic plans according to
written and verbal instructions.
- Coordinates golf course improvements, repairs and maintenance programs while considering player access, golf season peaks and company goals.
- Ensure accurate tracking of inventories, fertilizer and pesticide applications, cultural activities, and weather conditions.
- Maintain a pleasant and professional manner when
addressing associates, contractors, sales personnel, and guests.
- Maintain knowledge of current industry developments through continuous attention to golf industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
- Ensure all practices and tasks comply with the
company's environmental protection policy.
- Accountable for all accurate calibration of all
application equipment required for fertilizer and pesticide applications.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Experience,
Qualifications & Skills:

- Post-secondary
degree or diploma in turfgrass science or a related field
- 3+ years in a
similar management role in the golf industry

Compensation
& Benefits:
- The compensation package is commensurate
with experience and additional factors which will include a competitive base
salary ranging from $63,000-$67,000, sales incentives, and benefits.
