Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will own various accounting tasks, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement review, and generating various reports. This role will also be involved in various financial operational tasks and play a support role to Senior Accountants on the team, providing valuable opportunities for learning. The candidate should have a strong desire for learning the ins and outs of accounting and want to play an important role on a growing team. This role will have frequent interaction with all levels of the Accounting and Finance team, including Director level leaders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve key role in monthly close process by preparing journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts in several areas such as fixed assets, expense report accounting, various prepaid and accrual accounts.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations in assigned areas; investigate and resolve variances monthly.
- Assist in the sales audit process utilizing specific tools and functions within SAP ERP.
- Communicate regularly with retail store personnel, assisting with various issues in processing store transactions and addressing service requests from store management.
- Support Accounting leadership in various monthly close tasks.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Communication: Strong listening and interpersonal skills. Candidates must possess good verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate cross-functionally and through phone calls and e-mails.
- Analytical: Candidates must have strong statistical/analytical skills including data retrieval, organization, presentation, and summary skills.
- Technology: Candidates must be experienced and savvy in Microsoft Excel. Experience in SAP is not required but is strongly desired.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously - prioritize and complete requests in an efficient manner. Attention to detail is a must.
- Cultural: Must want to contribute in an extremely fast-paced organization; desire for constant learning; must live by the Company’s Core Values.
- Education: Bachelors Degree required with accounting preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years in a relevant Accounting or Financial Operational role highly preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time as the job is completed primarily at a desk each day. Variable desk heights are offered so alternatively sitting and/or standing at the desk is optional.
- Flexibility to work extended and varied hours as needed.
