PING, Inc., maker of PING golf equipment, is seeking a Senior Technical Designer that will lead the translation of advanced industrial design concepts into production-ready documentation with strategic oversight. This role mentors junior designers, drives innovation, and ensures the integrity of soft goods designs (e.g., golf bags, headwear, travel accessories, apparel) through expert-level technical execution and cross-functional collaboration. This position requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix Metro Area, relocation assistance will be provided.

YOU WILL:
- Lead development of comprehensive technical design packages: spec sheets, BOMs, graded dimensions, stitching/construction callouts, and material details.
- Strategically partner with Industrial Design, Product Development, Sourcing, and senior leadership to align materials, functionality, cost, and innovation.
- Oversee sample reviews and fit/function assessments; provide detailed feedback and ensure rapid iteration.
- Mentor junior designers and facilitate cross-disciplinary design reviews and meetings.
- Manage vendor/supplier relationships, ensuring quality and strategic alignment.
- Build and maintain an advanced library of construction standards, finishing methods, and test protocols.
- Drive continuous improvement in documentation, cost accuracy, sample quality, and process efficiency.
- Ensure version control and data integrity across all technical documentation.
- Travel domestic and internationally as needed.
YOU HAVE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Design, Product Development, Industrial Design, or related field, plus a minimum 6 years’ technical design experience in soft goods, bags, or related consumer products; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills with the ability to gain consensus.
- Thorough knowledge of soft goods manufacturing processes.
- Strong grasp of soft goods construction, materials, trims, and patterning.
- Ability to effectively participate in and lead focused cross-disciplinary business meetings
- Be a self-starter with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement in both product and process.
- Have proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of 3D design programs such as SolidWorks or Pro E (Creo) is a plus.
- Ability to perform 2D and 3D sketch and rendering (computer, pencil & markers).
- Knowledge of principles of color, textures, human factors and form as they relate to designing excellent products.
