Merion Golf Club is seeking a Full Time Pastry Chef. The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparation and turnout of high-quality pastries, desserts and baked goods. The Pastry Chef will design innovative menus, oversee the daily operations of the pastry department and ensure consistent quality and presentation. This position involves managing inventory, maintaining hygiene standards and training junior staff.
Responsibilities will include preparation and turnout of high-quality pastries, desserts and baked goods. This position will design seasonal and event specific dessert menus in collaboration with the executive chef while ensuring consistency and excellence in all aspects of pastry production, from scratch baking to final plating.
The Pastry chef will be responsible for providing detailed recipes, techniques and hands-on training to maintain quality and innovation while staying up to date on industry trends, techniques and ingredients. Will oversee the daily operations of the pastry department; including but not limited to ordering, food prep and plating. Responsible for managing inventory levels for product freshness and elimination of waste. Food must be fresh looking and rotated for freshness on a daily basis.
Candidates should be professionals with drive and diplomacy, technical skills and a passion to produce great food under pressure. The Club has a reputation for the finest food in the Main Line area of Western Philadelphia suburbs. A significant in-season time commitment should be expected.

Essential skills & qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associate’s Degree in culinary arts preferred
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker or similar role.
- Prior experience in private clubs, high-end resorts or fine dining establishments.
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking methods and kitchen equipment.
- Creativity and attention to detail in flavor pairing and presentation.
- Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills including strong communication within department and across clubhouse.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations.
- ServSafe certified
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new job tasks
- Ability to maintain knowledge of standard recipes and proper culinary techniques and procedures.
Merion Golf Club is private golf club in Ardmore, PA, established in 1896. The club has hosted more USGA championships than any other golf course in America, most recently hosting the USGA’s 113th US Open Championship in 2013, and is home to some of history’s greatest golf moments.
