The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Course Manager to lead the greenkeeping team at Scotscraig Golf Club during a transformative period of investment and restoration.
Reporting directly to the Links Superintendent, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day management, presentation, and conditioning of the golf course. You will also deputise for the Links Superintendent as and when required, providing leadership and continuity across the wider Ancient Links estate.

Working closely with both the Superintendent and the Ancient Links leadership team, you will play a central role in delivering a course that honours Scotscraig’s heritage while achieving world-leading standards of presentation and playability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily management, presentation, and maintenance of the golf course to world-leading standards.
- Report to and work closely with the Links Superintendent to deliver course and agronomic objectives.
- Deputise for the Superintendent as required, providing leadership, direction, and operational oversight.
- Develop and implement operational and agronomic plans aligned with the club’s strategic goals.
- Manage, mentor, and develop the greenkeeping team through effective leadership and structured development programmes.
- Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and supplier relationships to ensure efficiency and value.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, and environmental regulations.
- Oversee the safe and effective operation of turf machinery, irrigation systems, and chemical applications.
- Maintain accurate reporting on course conditions, resource use, and capital projects.
- Promote and implement sustainable course management and habitat enhancement practices.
- Collaborate with club management and internal stakeholders to prepare the course for daily play, tournaments, and visiting events.
About You
You will bring a balance of technical excellence, leadership ability, and vision, someone equally comfortable on the turf as in the meeting room.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Course or Deputy Course Manager within a premium golf environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of turf management, agronomy, irrigation, and machinery operations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven ability to develop teams.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance.
- PA1, PA2a, and PA6 spraying certificates, and a full driving licence.
Desirable
- SCQF Level 9 Management qualification or equivalent in Sports Turf / Agronomy.
- Experience in tournament preparation and championship level presentation.
- First Aid certification and IT literacy (Microsoft Office, turf management or asset systems).
