Position Overview
As a Talent & Culture Intern at Cabot Cape Breton,
you will be an integral part of our team focused on fostering a positive work
environment and nurturing talent. Your responsibilities will encompass
assisting in recruitment efforts, conducting employee engagement initiatives,
and contributing to training and development programs. This internship provides
a unique opportunity to gain insight into the hospitality industry's human
resources practices while working closely with our dedicated team to support Cabot
Cape Breton's commitment to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive workplace
culture that enhances the guest experience.
The successful candidate is required to be enrolled in a for-credit Co-Op/Internship program at a post-secondary institution (college or university) in the province of Nova Scotia during the Fall 2025 school term (September – December), studying Human Resource Management or a related field (e.g. Business Administration).

- Supporting HR Operations: Contributing to the daily
operations of the People and Culture team, ensuring smooth and efficient
functioning.
- Managing Employee Onboarding: Assisting in drafting offer letters, assembling new employee packages, and overseeing the onboarding process, including the issuance of employee ID cards and uniforms.
- Maintaining Administrative Efficiency: Monitoring paperwork
completion status, proactively following up with employees to ensure all
documentation is in order.
- Creating Employee Engagement: Participating in the
planning and execution of engaging employee events, fostering a sense of
belonging and camaraderie.
- Supporting Recruitment: Aiding in recruitment activities, from
posting job openings and screening resumes to contacting applicants and
coordinating interview schedules.
- Facilitating Employee Orientations: Assisting in organizing
and conducting employee orientation sessions, ensuring new and returning staff
are well-informed.
- Providing HR Assistance: Responding to general HR
inquiries, effectively managing queries, and identifying and escalating complex
issues to HR specialists when needed.
- Ensuring Data Organization: Electronically filing and
maintaining employee records, contributing to a streamlined record-keeping
system.
Preferred qualifications and
skills:
- The successful candidate is required to be enrolled in a for-credit Co-Op/Internship program at a post-secondary institution (college or university) in the province of Nova Scotia during the Fall 2025 school term (September – December), studying Human Resource Management or a related field (e.g. Business Administration).
- Basic knowledge of using an HRIS.
- Basic understanding of HR principles, best practices, and employment legislation including Nova Scotia Employment Standards and the Worker’s Compensation Board.
- Quick learner, detail oriented with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

criminal background check every two years.
- Ability
to manage timeline pressures and constraints.
- Sitting for long periods of time is to be expected on occasion.
- This position demands minimal physical
strain, with occasional light lifting necessary on event days.
