The HCM Integration Architect will serve as a key technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Workday integrations that support critical HR business processes. This role requires strong expertise across HR domain activities, a deep understanding of Workday integration frameworks, and the ability to assess design decisions for cross-functional and downstream impacts. The Integration Architect will work closely with HR, IT, and vendor partners to ensure integration solutions are delivered on time, meet business objectives, and align with enterprise standards. The architect must be able to collaborate across multiple disciplines, resolve complex issues, and confirm that the overall solution aligns with the overall business strategy.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide organizational knowledge, business process expertise, and leading practices across HR domains with emphasis on Workday HCM.
Lead design activities, requirements analysis, documentation, system configuration, testing, training, deployment, and post-go-live support.
The Integration Architect will be hands-on in developing, troubleshooting, and supporting Workday integrations, in addition to leading design and solution discussions.
Partners with vendors and internal stakeholders to drive timely issue resolution, solution design, and integration delivery.
Establish and enforce integration development standards, code reviews, and best practices to ensure consistent and high-quality deliverables
Facilitate cross-functional discussions, identify decision makers, and ensure alignment on business outcomes and integration impacts.
Drive root cause analysis for complex HCM issues, coordinating resolution while assessing downstream impacts.
Interface with offshore teams to manage technical deliverables, align priorities with offshore leads, and drive timely solutions
Collaborate with enabling workstreams to deliver integrated solutions and proactively mitigate risks.
Independently develop solution recommendations and define actionable next steps to support business objectives.
Oversee testing activities and ensure consistent execution against project timelines.
Maintain a comprehensive integration documentation repository to support knowledge transfer, future enhancements, and business continuity planning.
Identify, escalate, and resolve data and system risks in partnership with project and business teams.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Strong hands-on experience developing Workday studio integrations, with the ability to design, code, troubleshoot, and optimize integration solutions.
Extensive experience with Payroll, Time Tracking, Benefits, and Recruiting integrations along with related business processes, and Security requirements
Deep understanding of XML and XSLT coding
Stay current with Workday roadmap releases and industry trends to advise on future-state architecture.
Deep knowledge of HR strategy, processes, and best practices.
Experience operating in and building an auditable and compliant software ecosystem.
Effective communication skills
Additional Workday techno-functional experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a global, matrixed environment.
Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Computer Science / Engineering bachelor’s degree or related technical field.
Minimum 7 years of firsthand experience designing and leading people technology initiatives.
Minimum 7 years of experience leading system assessments and implementations, including project management, risk management, communications, and change management.
Experience operating in and building an auditable and compliant software ecosystem.
Successfully participated in at least one full-cycle Workday implementation, contributing across design, testing, deployment, and post-go-live phases.
Provided post-go-live support, actively involved in stabilizing the Workday product, resolving issues, optimizing configurations, and ensuring system readiness for long-term operations.
