The Associate Customer Development Manager plays a critical role in driving data-informed business strategies through customer analytics, performance reporting, and sales insights. This position is responsible for analyzing customer data, optimizing product assortments, and developing retailer-specific strategies to enhance sales and market presence. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with sales, planning, business intelligence, and operations teams to drive customer engagement and revenue growth. Finally, the incumbent will be expected to build customer relationships and identify sales opportunities within the retail environment.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Analyze sell-through data to generate actionable insights for customers and sales leadership.
- Provide weekly account performance reports highlighting key sales trends, inventory levels, and market opportunities.
- Conduct SKU/store-level replenishment reviews to enhance product assortment effectiveness.
- Develop retailer-specific assortment strategies to optimize product mix, shelf space, and promotions.
- Build strong customer relationships by delivering data-driven insights and value-added recommendations.
- Function as a liaison between internal teams and retail partners, communicating program details, issues, and opportunities.
- Assist in quarterly business reviews with key retail partners, analyzing sales performance and market trends.
- Perform SKU rationalization analysis to optimize product offerings based on sales performance.
- Utilize advanced analytics such as predictive modeling and trend analysis to uncover sales growth opportunities.
- Contribute to forecast models by analyzing retailer performance and feedback.
- Support joint business planning by evaluating historical data and forecasting future outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align strategies and drive business growth.
- Develop prescriptive analytics for optimal merchandising, inventory allocation, and replenishment.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reporting tools and analytics platforms.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
- Solid foundation in retail analytics with exposure to data science and advanced analytics.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud and various sales data platforms (SPS Commerce, IRI, Retail Link, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights into customers and senior leadership.
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills.
- Experience in the golf industry or golf product knowledge is a plus.
- Understanding of wholesaler operations and account management sales.
- Ability to apply predictive and prescriptive modeling to business strategies.
- Knowledge of finance, syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, Golf Datatech), and shelf development software is a plus.
- Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite specifically Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Self-starter with the ability to adapt to changing business needs and customer requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- BA or BS, master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of customer development, customer marketing, and/or category management experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in analyzing and interpreting data and team/project management experience.
- Category Advisor experience
- Golf industry experience, preferred.
- Experience with multi-door account distribution model, preferred.
- Callaway Golf product expert (past and present), preferred.
