Scotscraig Golf Club, the world’s 13th oldest golf club and former Open Championship Qualifying venue, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Course Manager to join our dedicated green-keeping team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Course Manager, the Deputy Course Manager will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our renowned heathland-links course. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of golf course management, with a strong focus on daily operations, staff supervision, and project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Course Manager in the day-to-day maintenance, presentation, and continuous improvement of the course.
- Supervise and lead the green-keeping team in the absence of the Course Manager.
- Ensure that all maintenance tasks are carried out to the highest standard.
- Assist with the implementation of agronomic plans, including fertiliser and chemical applications.
- Operate and maintain a range of golf course machinery.
- Support the management of irrigation and drainage systems.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide training and mentoring for the green-keeping team.
Requirements:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Sports Turf Management.
- Proven experience in a senior green-keeping role, preferably at a highly regarded golf course.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- PA1, PA2, and PA6 spraying certificates.
- Chainsaw certification (desirable but not essential).
- A passion for delivering exceptional course conditions.
- Full UK driving licence.
