Position Summary:
The General Manager leads the charge across the entire club, overseeing golf and instruction, food & beverage, accounting, sales & marketing, and golf course maintenance. This role keeps the operation running smoothly and in step with KemperSports expectations, policies, and procedures.
You’ll drive the creation and execution of fiscal, operational, and business-development plans, making sure the club stays sharp, efficient, and growing in the right direction. Along the way, you’ll set the tone for service, uphold quality standards, and guide the DeBell Golf Club team to deliver an experience members and guests can feel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all activities at DeBell Golf Club on a day-to-day basis.
- Hiring, training, and ongoing support of the department head staff consisting of the course Superintendent, Golf Professionals, Merchandise Manager, Food & Beverage leadership staff, Bookkeeper, and other key staff members.
- Lead weekly department head meetings, periodic department meetings, and annual all staff meetings.
- Oversee the hiring and training of all frontline staff members to ensure a superior level of guest service throughout the facility.
- Create and implement systems to ensure consistent execution of a first class experience on a day to day basis.
- Provide appropriate leadership, direction, supervision, and guidance to staff in accord with KemperSports expectations and company culture to promote positive employee morale and performance quality.
- Financial Management
- Direct, coordinate and monitor the development of the facility’s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets. Monitor and evaluate financial performance relative to budget goals and objectives. Analyze budget variances, develop and implement action plans to achieve appropriate business adjustments.
- Oversight of ‘back of the house’ operational responsibilities including accounting, staff scheduling, and payroll management, as well as other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications:
- The candidate will have at least five years of experience in a management role of similar or greater capacity with commensurate golf courses.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to interact well with staff and guests, as well as a strong work ethic.
- Qualified candidates have a 2 or 4 year degree in hospitality, business, or management focus, and/or requisite certification from the PGA of America.
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Must be an innovative thinker with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing service and business environment.
- Possesses strong leadership skills including recruiting, developing and retaining quality department heads and staff, and the ability to identify core competencies in co-workers.
- Skills required include a level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), point of sale systems and experience with Club Caddie software, or similar club based software.
- Highly developed interpersonal communications skills with demonstrated quality of written and verbal skills.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
