Job Summary:
The Director of Golf is responsible for leading all aspects of golf operations at Mid Ocean Club, ensuring a world-class experience for members and guests. This leadership role oversees golf staff, tournament planning, tee time management, golf shop operations, practice facilities, and coordination with maintenance and hospitality departments. A deep understanding of private club culture at the highest level, exceptional service standards, and a passion for golf are essential.
The Club’s Director of Golf is expected to be the ultimate professional, never losing sight of the primary objective of providing an exceptional golf experience for all the Club’s members and guests, while at the same time growing the game and it’s enjoyment.
Required Competencies Skills & Abilities:
Ø A golf pforessional who recognises the required standard of a premier member and guest golf experience for HNW and UHNW clients, and can continually evaluate, enhance, and direct others to achieve our vision in a positive, energised, and intuitive manner
Ø A service minded leader who is naturally focused on the attention to detail, as well as a continous evolution to enhance and personalise service delivery to members and their guests, and who can instill and uphold the same virtues in their team
Ø Proven skills and a history of responsiveness and proactive leadership, as well as an intuitive style of continuous evolution to excellence in all that you do, plus the ability to instill that ethos in the team.
Ø Experience of management, budgeting, revenue forecasting, capital expenditure, project management, stock management and marketing plans
Ø Working in a highly collaborative manner with the Chief Executive, Director of Agronomy and other Department Heads and providing thoughtful input and leadership to all these entities
Ø Diligent, hands-on professional who leads by example, sets clear objectives, provides thoughtful and regular feedback and recognises the responsibility to develop and mentor those who support and creates and leads a culture of staff development and mentoring.
Ø A knowledgeable, educated professional on golf course agronomy
Ø An obsession with “all things golf”
Ø An understanding of importing of merchandise will be considered an advantage
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Ø Golf Operations leadership role at a Premium golf facility with a minimum of 5 years serving as the head of a golf operations department, preferably at a private club and ideally with multi-course experience
Ø A strong, energetic and passionate leader with a proven track record of providing a member experience consistent wit a premium level Private Members Club
Ø Proven ability to manage and build a high-performance team.
Ø Strong knowledge of golf industry technology (e.g., tee sheet systems, POS, GHIN & Golf Genius).
Ø Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Ø Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Ø Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as required.
