Cambridge Country Club is seeking a dynamic, customer-focused PGA Head Professional to lead its golf operations and deliver an exceptional experience to members and guests. This is a prestigious opportunity for a qualified PGA Professional to become an integral part of a thriving private club in the heart of Cambridgeshire.
The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for both the game and business of golf, with excellent teaching skills, operational expertise, and the ability to manage and motivate a small team. You’ll play a key role in shaping the club’s golf culture, enhancing service standards, and developing our golf academy and retail operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day golf operation including tee time management, competitions, and member services.
- Manage a professional team of Assistant Professionals and golf services staff.
- Deliver and grow a successful lesson and coaching programme for all levels, including juniors and beginners.
- Administer club competitions and handicapping in coordination with the club’s committees.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and service across all golf facilities.
Retail Management:
- Operate and manage the Pro Shop, including purchasing, merchandising, and inventory control.
- Provide expert advice on equipment, apparel, and accessories, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Maximise retail revenue through strategic planning and exceptional service.
Teaching & Coaching:
- Offer individual and group coaching to members and guests using modern teaching aids and technologies.
- Develop and promote structured coaching programmes, including junior academies and ladies’ beginner groups.
- Stay up to date with coaching techniques and maintain CPD standards as a PGA Professional.
Business Development:
- Actively promote club services, events, and coaching through digital platforms, social media, and member communication.
- Contribute to increasing member engagement, recruitment, and retention through high-quality service delivery.
- Build strong relationships with members, guests, and the wider golfing community.
General Administration:
- Work closely with the General Manager to ensure alignment with the club’s goals and budget.
- Prepare reports and budgets related to the golf operation and retail areas.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety and safeguarding policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- PGA Professional status (UK or recognised equivalent).
- Proven experience in a similar role within a private members’ club or high-end golf facility.
- Strong coaching background with the ability to deliver lessons to all levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Commercial acumen with experience managing retail and coaching businesses.
- Proficiency in golf-related software (e.g., BRS, ClubV1, V1 Golf, TrackMan or similar).
- Passionate about golf, service, and continuous professional development.
