GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Staff Accountant I, Corporate Accounting, will be responsible for managing corporate accounting, financial reporting, and internal control activities. This role will interact with various departments, including Global Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Legal, and Tax. A high attention to detail and a strong desire to improve processes and controls are essential. The role requires learning and implementing new technologies such as Blackline, Workiva, Hyperion, and Oracle Cloud Analytics.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally to prepare fluctuation analysis for material accounts.
- Record and reconcile cash transactions and monitor account balances.
- Prepare and post journal entries for accruals, prepaids, and other transactions.
- Track and maintain records of company assets and review construction in progress.
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits.
- Research and analyze data to respond to accounting and financial questions.
- Perform other duties and projects assigned (up to 20% of the role).
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent.
Experience:
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably with a public accounting firm or large company
- Desire to pursue CPA license and/or additional education preferred.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Excellent knowledge of US GAAP.
- Ability to prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Understanding internal and external audit processes.
- Experience with intercompany transactions and account activity review.
- Familiarity with global charts of accounts and legal entity structure with an ERP system.
- Ability to prepare SEC-quality financial statements and perform variance analysis.
