GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Technician will assist with all Engineering activities and projects at the Club Car Order Fulfillment Center (OFC). The ME Technician will work under the direction of the Manufacturing Process Engineer, and will work closely with Operations, Quality and EH&S to support and improve manufacturing operations, including standard work development and training, troubleshooting process and equipment problems and implementing projects for safety, quality and efficiency improvements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Assist the Manufacturing Engineer(s) with developing standard work, training procedures, modules and practices that will improve safety, quality and process efficiency.
- Manages site activities to achieve SBU and Enterprise Environmental Health and Safety goals and objectives. Utilize EHS data analysis in problem solving. Assist with hands on training of manufacturing employees on new products, tooling, equipment and process revisions.
- Develop, assemble, procure or modify existing and new tooling, fixtures, and equipment to implement safety, quality and productivity projects.
- Work with site and SBU leaders to implement environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs and systems. Drive integration of EHS into daily work procedures. Identify and troubleshoot process, material, or equipment problems to minimize down time and recommend solutions to Manufacturing Engineering.
- Complete time studies to quantify and document processing times and identify areas for process improvements.
- Drive urgency of incident investigation completion by the appropriate staff for all injury, illness, near misses, property damage, and fire incidents and appropriate preventive and corrective actions taken. Provide guidance to leadership on historical and recommended corrective actions. Install and validate equipment and processes in manufacturing to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time following established validation procedures.
- Manage contractor safety program, including pre-qualification, to ensure effective safety processes are in place prior to and during work. Audit work in progress on a regular basis.
- Conduct and track EHS training to ensure compliance with regulatory policies, Enterprise and best practices. Assist in development and deployment of EHS training modules for employee and Leader development.
- Ensure facility inspections and audits are completed on a regular basis to detect existing or potential risks and hazards. Ensure the recommended corrective or preventative measures are completed in a timely manner.
- Review and provide feedback on risk assessments to control hazards and manage risk. Evaluate non-standard tasks to uncover risks and identify corrective actions.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains safe and productive work environment by assuring the work area is clear of tools, brooms, debris, and other items that may present a hazard.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- Associates degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology is required. Comparable work experience may be considered if progress toward an Associates degree is documented.
- Must complete specialized training in: First Aid/CPR/AED; RCRA / DOT for shipment/manifesting/labeling of the hazardous, regulated and special waste; HAZWOPER for spill response; Fall Protection; Arc Flash/Electrical Safety; and Lockout Tagout for Authorized Employees within the first 12 months of hire.
Experience:
- Three or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Strong capability with computer applications including email, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred.
- Understanding of Lean principles and root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action concepts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and have strong reading comprehension and listening skills.
- Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
- Follow Manufacturing Engineer(s) direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers.
- Ability to work overtime and assist in other areas as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires occasional lifting of objects of objects 25 to 50 pounds.
- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing.
- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or vehicles.
