This position is a hybrid design / development role with a primary focus on custom product CAD artwork design. The role will be responsible for seeing projects through from start to finish: communicating with the sales team as new projects are requested, creating surface design or CAD options to fulfil the customer’s need, and then developing approved designs with the fabric mill and garment producer. The Special Project Design and Development Manager will also manage any product development and tech packs for these special project styles to commercialize and get them ready for bulk production.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Effectively manage new project requests and appropriately prioritize and track all projects in work.
- CAD development with a focus on creating print artwork, stripe layouts, and other bespoke surface designs for key Peter Millar accounts.
- Manage print strike offs, lab dips, and other color and surface design development directly with the mill.
- CAD model design as needed; most projects will be new surface design on existing models.
- Build out and maintain style information and tech packs in the PLM system. CAD images, BOM’s, product specs
- Manage special project stye commercialization process and approval samples.
- Coordinate with Sr Director of Design Ops, production team, and sales team to ensure customer satisfaction and timelines are being met.
- Coordinate with the design team to provide design support for the main Peter Millar line as needed.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Exceptional skills in “In Design”, “Illustrator”
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Must have 2-3 years of experience in apparel industry
- BA/BS degree in textiles, design, or textile development is preferred
- Accurate color vision, with a keen eye for color, hue, and depth. The Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test is our internal benchmark.
- Experience with a PLM database required; BOMs, tech packs etc.
- Proven high skill level with Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- Willingness to travel both in the US and globally if required to meet with vendors
