As an Distribution Operations Manager – Pack, you'll oversee high-volume receiving operations across hard goods, soft goods, and returns, managing an annual volume of:
- 9-10 million hard goods
- 20-25 million swift goods
- 1 billion returns
In this role, you’ll lead a team of supervisors and associates, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in a fast-moving distribution center. You’ll own critical reporting—tracking inbound trailers, monitoring yard activity, and managing Work in Progress (WIP) reports—while working cross-functionally to keep everything running smoothly.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, manage and develop supervisors and team leads (salaried, non-exempt employees) in the daily operations of the distribution center.
- Liaison between the Director of Distribution, sales, customer service, production, order management, traffic, administrative groups and supervisors and team leads.
- Coordinates and ensures consistent safety and process training and implementation across all shifts.
- Implements/directs process improvement affecting overall throughput, accuracy and operating expenses. Works with supervisors and team leads, to ensure continuous improvements are being sought after.
- Regularly monitors warehouse floor and provide feedback to supervisors and team leads.
- Provides guidance to supervisors and team leads regarding employee relations issues.
- Monitors timely completion of employee performance evaluations.
- Assists in space planning for distribution center, shipping and warehouse.
- Responsible for developing, monitoring and meeting distribution centers budgets including:
- Direct labor and overtime.
- Parts and supplies.
- All miscellaneous expenses.
- Other tasks as assigned.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills including the use and application of Six Sigma problem solving techniques
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision making.
- Leadership ability; track record of leading and motivating a workforce to meet department/company goals.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast paced changing environment.
- Possess skills to develop and implement new procedures and policies to simplify and improve operations.
- Strong verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to hold management and staff meetings to organize department activities.
- Excellent judgment/decision making, conflict resolution, directing and motivating staff skills.
- Proficient in computer use, MS Word, Excel.
- Knowledge of SAP programs a plus.
- Knowledge of a computer based warehouse management system a plus.
- Knowledge of shipping manifest systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of warehouse/shipping experience in supervisor/management role.
- A.A. degree or equivalent job experience or training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)
- The employee is typically split between a climate controlled office environment and a non-controlled warehouse environment.
- Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business related machines and software.
- Must be able to work in an environment that may be hot, cold and dusty.
- The employee may be required to lift up to 60lbs.
- Employee must be able to pass forklift certification exam.
