Job Overview
The Sales & Event Manager is responsible for driving revenue for the facility through the marketing, selling, and execution of special events—including weddings, corporate meetings, banquets, conferences, social gatherings, and in-house club events. This role actively engages with both corporate clients and the general public within the local market to generate new business and enhance the club’s visibility.
Key responsibilities include partnering with facility leadership to plan, promote, and flawlessly execute events; developing and implementing marketing initiatives; and ensuring every guest receives a five-star experience. In addition to event sales, this position supports broader marketing efforts designed to increase revenue and elevate the overall performance of the club.
Responsibilities
- Market, Sell, organize, and execute all special events, weddings, corporate meetings, banquets, conferences, etc to corporate clients and the general public in the local market.
- Supports and executes general marketing initiatives to drive overall club revenue, enhance brand presence, and strengthen engagement across all business segments.
- Market, Organize, market and manage all in-house club events to fill white spaces and create revenue where we need it. Goal is 1 per month at each property.
- Build relationships with media, hotels, convention contacts, golf associations, civic organizations, etc. to promote membership and event sales.
- Community networking and building our brand.
- A minimum of 10 outbound sales phone calls per work week, 4 outbound sales visits per month, and a minimum of 1 quarterly networking event for new or potential businesses.
- Maintaining updated pace reporting.
- Managing sales & marketing calendars and supporting all sales & marketing efforts.
- Managing club social media and posting high quality content a minimum of 2 times a week.
- Process all requests for special events. Manage and maintain all data in the database, including incoming leads, booked events and all tracking that accompanies the event.
- Organize and handle all details for special events, banquets, weddings, meetings and club hosted events, etc. Manage communication between departments to help ensure coordination of all guest needs and activities. Ensure that all employees, especially customer contact personnel, fully understand all pertinent details in order to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Handle day of execution of all events taking place at the club.
- Be fully knowledgeable in bartending and banquet service and be able to fill this role as needed.
- Assist in preparing brochures and special event information packages.
- Conduct orientations and tours as needed for guests. Interact with guests in a congenial and professional manner to provide information regarding facility products, services, amenities, activities, policies, etc.
- Handle customer inquiries and/or complaints in accordance with Club operating policies and procedures.
- Manage and drive general marketing activities for the club that include but are not limited to: email database, club emails and website updates.
- Update and maintain all online club listings in regards to events or other aspects of the club. This includes Google Business, Linktree, the Knot, WeddingWire, Zola, and others.
- Be fully knowledgeable of golf shop merchandise, restaurant and bar menus, event menus and amenities in order to generate additional revenue through up-selling prior to and/or during events. Assist customers with special orders.
- Monitor guest activities. Review customer satisfaction information. Analyze information reflecting customer purchases, usage of amenities, products and services. Make recommendations to appropriate departments as a means of continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as appropriate.
Ideal candidate
- 1 year of sales experience, preferably in the golf or hospitality industry.
- 1 year of bartending experience and food service experience
- 1 year of event management/coordination experience, including a minimum of 10 weddings coordinated.
- Demonstrates quality interpersonal communication skills, presentation skills, and sales skills.
- Dedication and commitment to excellent customer service.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
