Position Title: Fitness Instructor
Position Reports to: Director of Fitness

The Country Club, a private club in the Boston area, is seeking a dynamic and well-organized fitness professional to join our fitness team. The ideal candidate has experience in the high-end fitness industry, advanced certifications and/or a degree in an exercise-related field. The candidate should be personable, professional, reliable, and a team player. We are looking for a top professional and/or someone with great potential and desire to grow in their role. This position is part-time; 10-20 hours per week. One (1) weeknight and one (1) weekend day required.
Essential Functions:
In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain a positive attitude and teamwork mentality at all times.
- Build and maintain a client base that contributes to department revenues.
- Assist members in all aspects of their fitness journey – orientations, evaluations, program design, follow up, etc.
- Conduct new client appointments while maintaining an existing client base.
- Walk the Fitness floor to continually foster a welcoming atmosphere, assist members with various exercises, and be available to answer questions.
- Create a presence around the Fitness Center while being an ambassador for the Fitness Program.
- Promote Club and Fitness specific programming to the membership.
- Observe and take action to correct all situations to maintain a safe environment at the Fitness Center.
- Instruct various fitness classes that align with area of expertise.
- Report all incidents, complaints or suggestions to the Director of Fitness daily.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all emergency procedures.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Contribute various articles and videos in your area of expertise to the Club newsletter, ebulletin and website monthly
- Maintain and improve professional competence through attendance at professional development events, conferences and online learning that meet the expectations and the requirements for re-certification. Maintain ability to apply new knowledge and skills.
Required Qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning or related field required.
- Candidates must be certified by an accredited fitness organization. One or more of the following: NSCA, CSCCa, SCCC, NASM, ACSM or IFPA.
- One (1) - two (2) years of related experience required.
- Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid for Adult, Child and Infant.
- Possess confidence and desire to create new relationships quickly.
- Possess a sound understanding of professional decorum expected in a private club environment. Maintaining confidentiality is essential.

- Possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possess strong administrative skills to maintain dynamic schedule, member communication and other tasks that arise.
Specialized Knowledge/Licenses:
- Candidates with experience in other exercise areas such as athletic training (certification and MA license required), strength and conditioning, nutrition, massage, yoga, pilates, and golf fitness are strongly encouraged to apply.
Uniform Requirements
- Uniforms will be provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical conditioning and stamina to sustain a 10–20-hour per week schedule which includes training, physical, and administrative responsibilities.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Daily walking, lifting, bending, squatting and reaching.
- Ability to do a personal training workout or group fitness class.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
