Ormskirk Golf Club, founded in 1899, is a private members’ golf club located in the heart of the Lancashire countryside. It is considered one of the finest inland courses in the country. An England Golf Championship venue and former Open qualifying venue, the club has hosted numerous County and National Championships, including most recently in 2024, The English Boys Open Amateur Championship or “Carris Trophy” as it is more commonly known.
Following the retirement of the club's long serving PGA Professional, the club are now looking to change the way we provide golf service support to our members and visitors. As such, we are looking to recruit a Golf Operations Manager to help deliver our main objective; to provide an exceptional golfing experience for our members and guests.
Our golf operations team are the first people our golfers interact with, and as the face of the club, we are searching for an enthusiastic, energetic, hardworking and presentable individual, with an extensive golfing background, to work alongside our current team.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Welcome and host members and guests.
- Manage the practice facilities
- To be the main point of contact for members and visitors contacting the club by telephone, email or social media channels
- Tee management
- Competition management
- Buggy fleet management
- Post golf services
- Administration of corporate or society golf days
- Being an integral part of delivering county and national championships
- Use of software’s to assist with the operation such as Intelligent Golf
- To manage all aspects of H&S

- Previous experience in the golf industry is essential.

- A substantial knowledge of Golf, the etiquette, and various formats of the game
- Flexibility is crucial and must be available to work 5 days out of 7 including weekends and Bank Holidays.
- Holding or working towards a GCMA / CMAE qualification
What happens next?
Our recruiting panel will review all applicants and shortlist CVs. If shortlisted, you’ll speak to one of our panel and discuss the role further. Our interview process will commence mid to late May and will be a formal face to face interview at the club.
