Glenview Park Golf Club is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This candidate will have a strong knowledge of golf course maintenance tasks, be dependable, professional, team oriented and have great attention to detail and follow through. The individual will have involvement with staff, irrigation & drainage systems, and small projects. Under the Golf Course Superintendent’s supervision, the Assistant Superintendent will direct day to day work schedules and supervise employees. Individual will have extensive involvement with the planning, scheduling, and implementation of the plant health program and safety program.
JOB DUTIES TO INCLUDE
- Oversee and manage golf course conditions, including performing maintenance, repairs, and improvements.
- Perform daily evaluation of golf course conditions along with disease/pest scouting.
- Prepare daily and weekly work schedules based on daily play and special events.
- Supervise and perform chemical and fertilizer applications including training, calibration, and record keeping.
- Assist in managing the automated irrigation system & pump station, including maintenance, repair of leaks, and troubleshooting electrical systems; manage computer weather station software and analyze moisture & evaporation rates.
- Control inventory and maintain records for equipment, tools, supplies and materials.
- Works with Superintendent and Equipment Technician to manage fleet; develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and other mechanicals; anticipate and prepare for capital replacements.
- Maintain MSDS sheets on chemicals & pesticides; train employees on MSDS sheets.
- Anticipate and minimize impact of external and/or environmental hazards (geese, coyotes, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures as well as adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
- Aid in managing off-season snow plowing and ice removal throughout the property.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in golf course or turf management, horticulture, landscape architecture, agronomy, or related field preferred, but will consider providing training and education opportunities to a strong candidate. Demonstrated experience working with a golf course superintendent. Supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver’s license is required. Able to attain an IL pesticide applicator license.
