This position is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing all competitions associated with the Player Engagement department. “Competition” is defined as the “playing of the game” for current and future Player Engagement programs while ensuring consistency with department and company strategy, commitments, and goals. This includes but is not limited to PGA Jr. League, PGA Family Golf, National High School Golf Association, National Collegiate Club Golf Association, Drive, Chip & Putt, and PGA Camps.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):
Lead and support program development of each Player Engagement program to maximize the player experience and value to PGA Golf Professionalsin collaboration with PGA staff, Sections, and Committees. This includes providing leadership and expertise on:
Rules / Conditions of Play
Recreational Pathways
Competitive Pathways
Training and Communications
All while aligning with program values
Oversee the development, delivery, and budget of competitive pathways, including:
Lead the National PGA Jr. League Championship as the Championship Director for 13u and 17u.
Lead PGA Jr. League Regional Competitions including tournament planning and execution, staff training, signage, rulings, and scoring.
Organize and deliver PGA Jr. League Section Qualifiers/Championships in collaboration with Section Staff.
Organize and deliver PGA Jr. League All-Star Play Days and the Regional Leaderboard in collaboration with PGA Golf Professionals.
Enhance and implement program enhancements to PGA Jr. League local leagues.
Lead and support the development and implementation of a PGA Family Golf competitive pathway.
Lead and support the National Collegiate Club Golf Association including overseeing local and regional, and national competitions.Lead and support the National High School Golf Association National Invitationals and any other competitions.
Support the local, sub-regional, and regional qualifiers of Drive, Chip & Putt.
Align all Player Engagement programs with The American Development Model (ADM)/ Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD), including:
Compliance with ADM standards.
Alignment with PGA.Coach integration.
Alignment with PGA.com integration.
Align PGA Player Engagement programs with other organizations, including:
Alignment and integration with Section programming.
Partnerships with youth organizations including LPGA/USGA Girls Golf, First Tee, Operation36, etc.
Partnerships with industry organizations including USGA, LPGA Tour, NGCOA, etc.
Lead applicable national Membership Committees alongside the Sr. Director.
Organize, lead, and manage the Competitions & Rules Committees for the respective Player Engagement programs.
Lead the department and Section Staff skill development on the Conditions of Competition and Rules of Play.
Support the development and management of new Player Engagement programs.
Contribute to the development of strategic plans for Player Engagement.

SUPERVISION:
This is a supervisory position responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees within the department.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for preparation and oversight of the Department budget and for monitoring results.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in business, marketing, or related field preferred. or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred.
Seven years of experience in program management and/or operation of a Championship or similarly scaled event, along with a general business background.
Five years team management experience.
PGA Member preferred.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Must have knowledge of golf industry; junior golf and player development programs; skills in conflict resolution. Knowledge of event management, along with the ability to work with volunteers, host site staff, sponsors, community leaders and government agencies. Must have the ability to devise and disseminate financial data. Must have proficient communications skills, both written and oral, and must demonstrate professionalism to develop on site press releases for all media. Knowledge of Google Workspace and use of the Internet.
