JOB OVERVIEW
Are you a creative problem-solver with a passion for innovation and a keen eye for aesthetics? As a Senior Design Engineer on our Process and Innovation Engineering team, you’ll lead the charge in developing cutting-edge surface finishes, coatings, graphics, textures, and aesthetic materials for golf clubs and golf balls. Your work will enhance both the performance and visual appeal of our products, ensuring they stand out on the course.
This role sits at the intersection of industrial design and mechanical engineering, requiring both technical expertise and a creative mindset to transform bold ideas into manufacturable solutions. You’ll take aesthetic innovations from concept to proof-of-concept, leveraging your experience in metal casting, forging, machining, injection molding, and surface finishing techniques to bring designs to life.
As a key player in our innovation efforts, you’ll:
- Lead multiple projects, working hands-on to prototype and validate new aesthetic technologies and materials.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, R&D, and suppliers to refine concepts and assess mass production feasibility.
- Engage with global suppliers and occasionally travel internationally to oversee prototype evaluations and process validation.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create concept design geometry using knowledge of all available design tools in conjunction with sketches, renderings, and physical mockups.
- Research and analyze emerging trends to identify innovative design opportunities in surface treatments, finishes, and graphic applications.
- Explore new golf club design concepts as part of assigned project teams.
- Select and specify materials and finishes based on performance, aesthetics, and production constraints.
- Define and create the design specifications for realization of innovative designs.
- Trade performance, aesthetic, material and fabrication process influences on detailed concept design models as part of project teams.
- Champion prototype fabrication activities.
- Drive interaction between the Innovation team, R&D, and Product Engineering teams.
- Communicate design intent effectively, preparing presentations, reports, and detailed documentation throughout the development cycle.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Excellent skills in the use of Unigraphics sketcher, free form surfacing and solids tools, associative/parametric modeling techniques and family of parts design methods.
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software (Illustrator and Photoshop specifically).
- Solid knowledge of golf club design features critical to performance.
- Strong knowledge of golf club head shape parameters (i.e. design parameters of face, sole, toe, hosel, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of common golf club head construction methods
- Working knowledge of the technical aspects of a golf club performance and testing should include but is not limited to: shape and mass property influence on performance, characteristics of club sound and feel and shaft design and its influence on performance and feel.
- Ability to plan, analyze and interpret objective and subjective data
- Knowledge of hard good manufacturing processes (i.e. metal casting, forging, machining, injection molding)
- Knowledge of surface finishing techniques
- Knowledge of golf club testing and evaluation methods.
- Solid critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of office software products (MS Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong knowledge of the physics of golf club performance.
- Knowledge of golf club design history and competitor models.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of experience in golf club head design and development
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or related field, or 4 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Familiarity with or training in Six Sigma methods
- Experience working with international suppliers is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)
- Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
- Extensive use of office equipment to include computer, calculator, copier, fax, and other business related machines and software.
