JOB OVERVIEW
Step into the game-changing role of Injection Molding Process Engineering Manager and lead the charge in crafting the future of golf ball manufacturing! In this dynamic position, you'll spearhead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of cutting-edge manufacturing processes with a spotlight on injection molding technology.
As the technical trailblazer, you’ll oversee the creation and upkeep of essential technical data, ensuring precision, efficiency, and operational excellence across all production activities. Your role will bridge the gap between innovation and execution as you collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and Equipment Engineering to commercialize new products and implement transformative capital projects. Working closely with QA/QC, you’ll champion quality-focused advancements that elevate our products to new heights.
Beyond technical expertise, you’ll lead and inspire a high-performing team of Process Engineers and Technicians, driving operational success and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Product/process development for all new and modified golf balls
- Golf ball commercialization process owner as related to manufacturing
- Generate capital project requests, including cost analysis and justification
- Collaborate with equipment engineering group on design and execution of capital projects related to process improvement, equipment replacement, and new product requirements
- Support gross margin initiatives via impactful cost savings associated with material & productivity improvements
- Establish and maintain product/process specifications and related manufacturing instructions
- Establish and maintain product material bills (except for packaging) and providing input to finance relating to product costs
- Support material development and qualification
- Conduct process capability studies
- Conduct raw material vendor audits
- Acts as a liaison between Callaway Golf Ball Operations (CGBO) and Corporate R&D
- Support quality initiatives and defect reduction via best practices and SPC methodology
- Support CI/Lean initiatives via active participation projects and applied practices
- Comply with safety policies and procedures where applicable
- Provide technical support to subsidiary and 3rd party manufacturing sites
- Maintain documentation related to new product development, production pilots, legal
- Acts in a supervisory role overseeing Process Engineers and Engineering Technicians to include coaching, training, performance reviews and disciplinary action when required
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Proficient in MS Office products, MS Project, statistical analysis programs such as MiniTab
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies a plus
- Demonstrated expertise in materials such as ionomers (e.g., SURLYN™), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and Texin®
- In-depth understanding of injection molding processes and technologies."
- Proven ability to align team development initiatives with overall business objectives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors of Science in Plastics Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 2 years’ supervisory/lead experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Process Engineer, with a strong specialization in injection molding
