Within the Capital, and beneath the spectacular backdrop of Arthur’s Seat, you will find one of Scotland’s most outstanding parkland courses. Situated within minutes of Edinburgh’s busy city centre this tranquil setting has been home to Duddingston Golf Club since 1895 – a course with rich history and known for its challenging design and sweeping fairways. Set in delightful surroundings, the Braid Burn is a key feature, which meanders throughout the course, coming into play on no fewer than 14 of the 18 holes, always sitting in wait to grab that errant shot!

This fantastic opportunity offers a brilliant chance for an ambitious candidate to develop their career in greenkeeping. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and positive attitude to work, be able to achieve a high level of attention to detail in all tasks and have good working knowledge of health and safety. Any successful applicant must have their own transport and be willing to work weekend mornings.

Hours: Based on 37.5 hours per week (including weekends) plus overtime working as required.

Responsibilities:

· General golf course set up including switching, divoting, moving markers, raking bunkers and changing holes.

· General golf course maintenance including mowing, aeration, irrigation, fertilising, drainage and construction.

· General maintenance of the clubhouse grounds including outside buildings, litter picking, weeding beds and pruning shrubs.

· General maintenance of the greenkeeper’s buildings.

· Basic machinery and tool maintenance including start checks, machinery preparation, safe storage and reporting faults.

· To assist in keeping all Health & Safety and COSHH records up to date.

· To assist in the planning and execution of course maintenance & improvement projects.

The ideal candidate:

· A positive, motivated, can-do attitude

· A flexible approach to work and working hours based on a seasonal rota-based system

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a greenkeeping position with excellent practical and technical skill set

· Must be qualified up to a minimum of SVQ Level 2

· Spraying certificate qualifications desirable

· Driving licence preferred but not essential

· Excellent communication skills

· Ability to work well in a team or alone

· Strong attention to detail and pride in their work

· Up to date experience working with modern machinery and proper maintenance of machinery

· A strong knowledge of Health and Safety requirements relating to greenkeeping
