Job Title: Crew Leader

Job Summary : Sustains course function by assisting the Superintendent in the direction of course development, turf management, and equipment maintenance activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management:
- Under the direction of the Superintendent, maintain the appearance and safety of the course by diagnosing and treating agronomic issues; supervising irrigation scheduling and repairs; maintaining a wide variety of turf grasses in extreme climatic conditions; managing course preparations for tournament and daily play; integrating environmental programs specializing in IPM (Integrated Pest Management); overseeing maintenance of the golf course maintenance equipment and golf cart fleet; coordinating, scheduling and supervising capital improvement projects
- Under the direction of the Superintendent, manage maintenance operations involved in providing maintenance of greens, fairways, tees, sand traps, bodies of water, roughs, maintenance shop, golf carts, and clubhouse; responsibility for selection, training, assignment and assessment of maintenance staff, providing corrective action as needed; holding safety meetings to ensure the highest level of safety for all maintenance staff
- In the absence of the Superintendent, provide effective administration by developing and executing annual maintenance plan and budget for the course; tracking maintenance expenses including payroll, supplies, fertilizer, chemicals, etc.; maintaining maintenance records and developing required maintenance reports; ordering parts, supplies and equipment as needed

- Must maintain a safe and orderly maintenance facility
- Must be able to help set-up and tear down any special event that Redlands Mesa Golf Course provides to its customers (Weddings, concerts, etc.).
- Assist in repairing equipment
- In the absence of the Superintendent, must be able to run daily operations at a high level.
- Maintain positive relations with all employees, customers, and the general public.
- Resolve technical maintenance problems with the assistance of the Superintendent or designated consultant
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements :
- Turf Management or related field and 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- 2-3 year’s experience managing people, preferably in the golf/hospitality/service industry
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and management
- Solid time and money management, organization and prioritization skills
- Innovative thinker with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business environment
- Ability to effectively build a team environment and provide motivation
- Member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America preferred
- Thorough knowledge of drainage control methods, watering and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps, and automatic controls
- Thorough knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides, and pest control methods and materials
- Thorough knowledge of the construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, sand traps, greens, and ponds
- Knowledge of the game of golf
- Must look and act professional at all times

Rate of Pay : Is determined by seniority, experience, and the ability to work safely with the up most professionalism. Starting pay is $20 to $23 per hour
