As an Assistant Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Superintendent in managing the daily operations and maintenance of a golf course. You will assist in overseeing the grounds crew, implementing course maintenance programs, and ensuring that the facility meets the highest standards of quality and safety. In this role, attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and a passion for the outdoors are essential.
Your responsibilities may include supervising staff, tracking inventory and equipment maintenance, implementing pest and weed control measures, and collaborating with the Superintendent to develop long-term maintenance plans. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable land management practices.
To succeed as an Assistant Superintendent, you should have a general understanding of agronomy, turfgrass management, and irrigation systems(a plus). Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to work in varying weather conditions are also important.
- Associate's degree or certificate in turfgrass management, horticulture, or related field
- Previous experience in golf course maintenance or landscaping
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, pest management, and turf care practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license
- Certification in pesticide application within 120 days
