ASSISTANT GOLF COURSE SUPERINTEDENT
SUMMARY
Deer Run Golf Club, previously known as Tawakoni Golf Club, was founded in 1971. It is an 18-hole course, partially surrounded by the beautiful Lake Tawakoni. It is one of the most scenic golf courses in the DFW metro area. The new management has significantly improved the golf course and it is now one of the fastest growing golf courses.
This position is responsible for supervising and directing the operation, management, and maintenance of the Turf & Equipment at the Golf Course. This position is working manager and reports directly to the Owner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This introductory management position is a great opportunity for the right candidate to further refine their turfgrass management skills using state-of-the-art technologies. The assistant superintendent will work closely with the Owner and other managers. This is a hands-on management position that requires a self-motivated individual with positive attitude and a strong work ethic. Candidates should have a willingness to learn all aspects of the operation and a desire to become a Superintendent. The candidate will be required to take full ownership of their assigned responsibilities and crew assignments with the ability to collaborate and provide input. This position is full-time with paid vacation and a salary based upon experience.
This position will have full responsibility for the weekend operation (mowing, watering, etc.). Need to be available on weekends either F/T or P/T.

Grounds & Equipment Management
- Plans, schedules, and supervises the repair, care, maintenance, and operation of the Golf Course.
- Responsible for all the mowing, watering, weeding, rolling, spiking, and fertilization of greens, tees, and fairways.
- Suggests and implements solutions for the control of fungus, weeds, rodents, and insects.
- The Course has a chemical and fertilizer management program. You are responsible for the implementation of the program in a timely manner.
- Keeping detailed records and supervising chemical/fertilizer applications; maintaining an inventory of pesticides, fertilizers, and other golf course materials within budgetary limitations.
- Supervises the maintenance and repair of equipment used in day-to-day operations.
- Operation of power equipment and heavy machinery, as needed.
Staff Management
- Work with the Owner in the selection, development, leadership and retention of talented staff in the golf operations.
- Develop Employees for career advancement through the use of Performance Review Systems, Cross Training, and Development Planning

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 3 years of experience in a golf course operation. Thorough knowledge of the methods used in the care and maintenance of golf courses.
- Thorough knowledge of the uses and operating methods of equipment and tools used in golf course maintenance.
- Experience supervising others and leading a team. Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates engaged in golf course care and maintenance.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to repair equipment used in golf course operations.
- Self-starter with the ability to follow-through and complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
