Scope:
Maintain established quality, cleanliness and service standards of the Agronomy Dept.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist Equipment Manager in running and maintaining the shop and equipment of the Agronomy Dept.
- Set-up, check and maintain quality-of-cut daily as per SOP’s.
- Maintain shop organization and cleanliness.
- Maintain high levels of equipment cleanliness.
- Prepare equipment for use daily.
- Diagnose and repair equipment failures.
- Inspect equipment operation on the course, adjust as needed avoiding down time if possible.
- Maintain equipment outside of Agronomy to the highest level.
- Assist in operation of equipment when needed.
- Assist with employee operator training as needed.
- Attending club safety meetings and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Fabrication and welding repairs of equipment.
- Accurately order parts as needed.
- Run shops and maintenance on equipment when the Equipment Manager is off site.
Note: Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Relationships:
Internal: Agronomy Dept. for effective communication.
External: Members/Guests: To provide excellent service.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Knowledge of golf course equipment maintenance and needs
Certification and/or License Requirement:
Valid state driver’s license and clean MVR report.
Skills:
- Must possess excellent oral and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use a variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate repairs.
- Requires a working knowledge of golf facility principles, practices and methods and understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.
- Must be able to commit to hours of operation and understand that hours will fluctuate due to the needs of the club equipment.
- High level of confidence.
- Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions as well as communicate clear instructions.
- Must possess the ability to interact with members and staff on all levels in a professional, positive, and friendly manner.
- Working knowledge of safety around members, guests and staff.
- Position requires a highly professional demeanor with members, guests and staff, adaptability, flexibility, and adherence to a strict level of confidentiality.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to instruct new workers in proper procedures of the Agronomy department.
- Ability to set-up and maintain quality of cut as per SOP’s
- Ability to learn and operate maintenance program.
- Requires working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, electric, and diesel-powered equipment, the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of power mowing equipment.
Working Conditions:
- Flexibility is required in working longer hours during peak times.
- Flexibility is required as the needs of the club change and requirements change.
- On-call for snow removal in the winter months.
- Come in early or work late as required.
- Weekend rotation with mechanic staff through summer months.
- Required to work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical/Cognitive Activities:
- Requires the ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Requires ability to bend, stoop, walk, lift, and carry items up to 50 pounds.
- Requires the ability to safely operate equipment, and both mechanical and hand tools.
- Requires working in an outdoor environment with fluctuating temperatures.
- Requires working in an outdoor environment on rugged un-even terrain.
- Requires ability to visually observe the condition of surroundings
