Job Summary:
Directs and participates in the maintenance of the Rees golf course, Practice facility and grounds. Supervises the maintenance and repair of all motorized and other mechanical equipment, and does all related work required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises Rees course maintenance staff; conducts performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, makes decisions for hiring/firing/promoting/demoting/training of staff, as needed.
- Assists in the planning and maintenance of greens, tees, fairway, and all other club property
- Schedules work and supervises the employees and the use of all equipment.
- Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.
- Performs pesticide and fertilizer applications and keep records of all applications.
- Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and the maintenance of the irrigation and drainage systems.
- Assists in the personnel management, employee safety, personnel discipline and may modify the daily work schedule based on professional interpretation.
- Conducts daily facility security checks ensuring accurate inventory of equipment and keys.
- Ensures that chemicals, petroleum and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Maintains required OSHA records and strives to minimize the use of chemicals and petroleum products.
- Conducts all work in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards; guidelines, personal protection equipment etc.
- Complies with all Club policies and procedures
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares and revises grounds standard operating procedures.
- Safely operates equipment such as mowers, pluggers, weed whackers, trimmers and club vehicles used for various course maintenance needs, as needed.
- Makes necessary minor adjustments to equipment, as needed.
- Trims trees and removes cuttings, as needed.
- Waters plants; cuts grass, weeds and bushes; rakes leaves, as needed.
- Performs special projects and additional duties as assigned.
- High School degree or equivalent required; Bachelor degree preferred.
- Valid Irrigation and spray technician licenses maintained at all times.
- Minimum of a two year turfgrass certificate and at least three years of golf course experience.
- Exceptional communication, managerial, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for golf cart operation.
- Ability to read and converse in English for communication with managers and for safety reasons.
- Must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently demonstrate all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for golf cart and golf equipment and vehicle operation.
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely within regulations set by OSHA.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal state and local standards.
