The most suitable individual selected for this role will have a critical eye for detail, deliver large doses of hospitality management by engaging with members/guests and teammates, inspire associates to be the best version of themselves, drive pride in ownership of golf department, have a high level of stamina, have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3-5 years within club management experience within private clubs; should also demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written in this highly interactive and engaging position.
- Oversees golf operations including tournaments, rules, tee sheet activity, merchandise inventory, range operations, player service operations, cart fleet, player development and membership golf programming.
- Assists in the development and day to day tracking of the budget and business plan. Helps to control expenses in relation to revenues.
- Creates a member service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the member and their guests. Ensures that associates provide a high level of customer service.
- Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people, and preparing them for career advancement.
- Recruits, trains and onboards new team members. Has direct experience in building out and executing training programs using Quality Standards, check lists and a curriculum of content for associate development and growth.
General Purpose:
Directs and oversees all aspects of Golf Operations including its activities and relationships between guests, associates and community. Has the ultimate responsibility for maximum member/guest satisfaction and financial performance.
Compensation:
Base Salary: $130,000-$140,000 per year.
Annual Bonus: 20% annual bonus incentive opportunity.
Essential Duties:
- Develops, implements, and monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses for operations departments.
- Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by Troon Golf management or representatives.
- Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
- Develops, maintains and administers sound organizational plans and initiates improvements as necessary.
- Maintains membership with the PGA and CMAA and other professional associations. Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
- Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facilities physical assets.
- Coordinates marketing programs designed to promote the facility’s services to potential customers.
- Ensures the highest standards of quality for food and beverage service on property.
- Implements policies and procedures for the Golf, Food and Beverage, and Maintenance Departments, including compliance of all company standards relating to quality of products and services.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Manages department members that may include, but is not limited to: Head Professional, Tournament Coordinator, Director of Instruction and Golf Services Manager
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BA); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Multi-course facilities may require more experience).
Physical Demands:
Regularly stands, walks and sits. Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms. Frequently talks or hears; tastes or smells. Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.
Environment/Noise:
Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather). Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Certificates/Licenses:
Class A member of PGA/LPGA
Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:
- Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with computerized POS and tee time system. EZSuite POS and ForeTees currently in place.
