Town & Country Golf Links in Woodstown, New Jersey is seeking an Assistant to train under the current Golf Course Superintendent who is retiring. The course is located in a rural community in Southern New Jersey, a short commute from Delaware and Philadelphia, Pa. Open year-round, the course recorded 45,000 golf rounds in 2024 due to competitive greens fees combined with optimal playing conditions. Other amenities driving the course's popularity include a covered and illuminated driving range powered by Toptracer, a practice sand bunker and a large putting green, a fully stocked pro shop and an inviting clubhouse with a restaurant open to the public.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for agronomy and turf management and the desire to provide optimal playability for our guests. The Superintendent is responsible for maintenance of the golf course grounds and all related landscape areas, including those of the clubhouse. Duties will include the health and management of turfgrass, trees and all other vegetation, operation and troubleshooting of irrigation systems, labor hiring, supervision and management of maintenance team, compliance with environmental agencies, purchasing, inventory and budgeting of course supplies such as fertilizers, chemicals, equipment, and irrigation. Communication with the GM and Director of Golf frequently is required to discuss scheduling and procedures on the course while ensuring customer playability and satisfaction are a must.
2-year degree in Turfgrass Management or Agronomy
2-year minimum experience in turf grass management at a golf course
Chemical and Fertilizing applicator certifications (or willingness to become certified)
Knowledge of irrigation systems and water use management
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills with all members of the turf and equipment maintenance team
Must have flexible schedules with availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
