About this role:
The USGA Brand Communications Intern will assist with public relations and communications support, focused on stakeholder relations, media coordination and event planning. Duties will include writing, editing and deploying news briefs and newsletters, fulfilling media inquiries, story pitching, media monitoring and reporting. USGA functions covered under this role include community engagement, corporate communications, handicapping/GHIN, Green Section (sustainability), grow-the-game and leadership/career development programs.
The Brand Communications Intern will be expected to work a 40-hour work week throughout the internship. Minimal travel might be required. Relocation is not required for the position, but remote candidates may benefit from additional networking and in-person opportunities by visiting the USGA Headquarters in Liberty Corner, N.J. or the Pinehurst office through the internship period.
What you can expect:
- Writing, editing, designing and deploying key stakeholder communications for the organization, while building your golf networking base
- Media release and advisory communications writing, editing or deployment
- Curating the organization’s media impressions
- Collaborating with every department in the USGA and our external PR firm, integrated with content and marketing teams
- Possible attendance at a USGA championship in support of our community engagement activations
Where you'll be:
- This role can serve remotely or be positioned in the USGA’s Golf House Pinehurst or Liberty Corner offices
What you bring to the USGA:
- General communications and PR skills, including strong writing and editing skills
- Preferred areas of study include: journalism, communications, PR or related field
- Strong organizational and decision-making skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work independently and support the team
- Up-to-date computer skills and the ability to effectively communicate, including basic design skills
- Energetic and able to meet ongoing deadlines
