The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer opportunity at Waterlefe Golf & River Club MPOA is one that allows a dedicated, collaborative, and engaged leader to proactively manage a highly functioning team and Club while also working closely with the MPOA’s Board of Directors on the evolving, strategic vision for the Club and Community’s future prosperity.
The successful new GM/COO will be active and visible at the Club and within the vibrant Community. He/She/They will oversee a strong team of skilled professionals who manage the day-to-day operations of the Community Association including both dining and recreational facilities. The new GM/COO will model exceptional, innovative leadership through the setting and effective communication of a clear vision, goals and objectives. The new GM/COO will also be expected to navigate both the interests of the Club and Community with diplomacy while at all times remaining transparent, approachable, and invested in the future of the staff, business partners, members, and residents.

Waterlefe Golf & River Club
The Community is a prestigious master planned development on the Manatee River in beautiful Bradenton, Florida with over 20 years of illustrious history. It contains 617 homes that range from executive waterfront to golf view condominiums ranging in value from $300,000 to $3,000,000. A gated Community, it operates a combination of public and private roadways and common areas. Clubs within the Club include a private equity Marina Club, semi-private Golf Club and private River Club dining.
The private River Club offers a casual bistro/bar/card room plus a dining room with 100 seats indoors and a poolside tiki bar outdoors. Additional amenities include a 24hr fitness center, kayak launch, viewing pier, playground and boat lift. The River Club and related facilities and amenities are owned by the MPOA (a not-for-profit FL Corp) .
The Community also boasts an award-winning semi-private Golf Club featuring 18 holes of championship golf, driving range and grille room. The Golf Club and community common areas are owned by the CDD (a special taxing district under Florida statues). The Golf Club and all CDD common areas are operated and managed by the CDD and is not in the scope of this position.

Reporting Summary
The General Manager/COO will report directly to the Master Property Owners’ Association (MPOA) Board of Directors and work cooperatively with Golf Club and CDD management.
Direct reports include Comptroller/CFO, Community Association Manager, River Club Manager, Facilities Manager and Communications Manager
Key Responsibilities
Leadership/Relationship/Performance Management
- Develops synergy between Board members and staff to create a cooperative, productive atmosphere in which creative and strategic thinking thrive
- Cultivates relationships with members and guests to ensure both exceptional resident services and experiences while also ensuring member satisfaction goals are met
- Plays the key role in staff satisfaction, training, and retention through mentorship creating an atmosphere in which team members thrive
- Leads regular meetings to ensure coordination throughout departments
- Commits to the development of staff in achieving business goals
- Ensures that all employee training meets goals for service standards
Strategic Planning
- Drives successful strategic planning initiatives by interfacing with Board members, volunteer committees and key management; instrumental in the implementation of action plans to drive member and resident engagement
- Facilitates cooperative initiatives between the MPOA and CDD to achieve the strategic long- range goals of both organizations
- Acts as an innovator/catalyst for driving compelling new programs and products to drive engagement and enhance our standing in the market
- Develops and coordinates effective strategies for gauging member and resident interest in new projects as well as satisfaction with completed and ongoing projects.
Financial & Business
- Plays an integral role in the annual preparation of comprehensive annual business plans and budgets for Association and included River Club
- Prepares monthly management reports for MPOA Board of Directors and reports the financial and operational status at monthly Board meetings
- Plays the key fiduciary role for the Community Association
- Ensures that all state, federal and locally mandated financial reporting is done in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
- Creates efficient business frameworks and systems that maximize organizational effectiveness
- Monitor’s business volume and advises changes and corrective action if needed to adjust level staff levels, operating costs, and other factors to meet business goals.
Club Operations
- Provides broad oversight for the day- to- day club operations utilizing an established team of club professionals to achieve strategic and financial goals for the River Club operations
- Takes the lead on all club communications and marketing
- Drives the development and execution of an annual schedule of member events and programs to increase member engagement and satisfaction
- Reviews monthly business reports and forecasts prepared by Department Managers
- Inspects and confirms that the care and maintenance of all club facilities meets the standards established by Board
- Conducts annual reviews of all software programs to improve productivity and improve end user experience
- Updates and oversees implementation and compliance of all club policies and practices
- Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws
Community Association
- Works closely with the Community Association Manager and Facilities Manger to manage the day-to-day operation of the Community Association and its sub-associations
- Oversees the financial functions of the Association under the direct supervision of the Comptroller/CFO. This includes, annual budgets, monthly financials, fiduciary and all policies and procedures related to the Association’s financial processes
- Participates in all Board and Committee meetings as required with monthly and annual Board reports, presentations and analysis as requested
- Directs all marketing and communications, including website maintenance
- Responds to resident concerns as appropriate
- Reviews, supports, and ensures that the Board is in compliance with Florida Statutes and the Declaration of CREs for the Community Association
Candidate Qualifications
The successful candidate:
- Has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or another related field where leadership, strategic and creative thinking and organizational management are at the forefront of accountabilities
- Has at least five (5) years of progressive management experience inclusive of demonstrable strength in leadership, work with volunteer Boards and Committees, finance, human resources and project management
- Has a CCM designation or similar accreditation (preferred)
- Has a Florida Community Association Manager’s (CAM) license or is willing to obtain the license within the first six months of hire
- Is an innovative, big picture thinker with a track record in creating, evaluating and executing strategic planning and capital projects
- Has demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of Community Association leadership/management
- Has exceptional interpersonal skills and is able to interface well with staff, members, homeowners, and guests
- Is skilled in all modes of communication and can effectively address challenges and facilitate timely and favorable resolutions
- Has a proven track record in leading and directing staff
- Is preferably experienced with Club Systems (Jonas)
