HISTORY
LIV Golf launched in 2022 as an eight-event Invitational Series with tournaments across the U.S., Europe and Asia. 2023 saw the first official season of the LIV Golf League, establishing the sport’s first professional golf teams captained by many of the game’s most decorated superstars competing in 14 events around the world.
The format respects golf’s history and traditions with updates for modern-day sports fans; three days, 54 holes, no cut, shotgun start, and simultaneous team and individual competitions, offering a faster tournament that drives engaging storylines and offers an immersive fan experience. The League’s award-winning events, each wholly owned and operated by LIV Golf and broadcast to over 500 million homes worldwide, showcase world-class competition within a family-friendly environment. Music entertainment, live concerts and a festival-style atmosphere play a signature role with LIV Golf, a two-time winner of the World’s Best Golf Event from the World Golf Awards and a Sports Business Awards Finalist for Sports Event of the Year.
LIV Golf continues to expand its reach by bringing the League to new and returning markets featuring some of the most iconic venues in the world. It has also introduced free agency to professional golf, integrating end-of-season player promotion and relegation, team trades and offseason roster movement that drive year-round fan engagement embraced by many of the world’s most popular sports.

Role Objective
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, the Legal Counsel (UK) is responsible for providing day-to-day legal support and guidance to the business.
Responsibilities
· Draft, negotiate, manage and advise on a range of global (excluding US) transactional matters, including sponsorships, brand and marketing partnerships, live-event-related agreements, media, licensing, e-commerce, content production and distribution etc.
· Assist the wider legal team in providing guidance on the full range of legal and business affairs matters affecting the company, such as governance and compliance matters, IP, data protection, live event delivery issues (ticketing terms and conditions, etc.).
· Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations
· Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues
· Ensure adherence to compliance policies
· Keeping abreast of legislative changes that may affect the business
Experience
· 2-5 years legal experience including a track record of delivering sound cross-functional legal advice, ideally within a sports, media, or, entertainment related organization (preference for a mix of law firm and in house experience)
· Demonstrated experience in ensuring adherence to corporate compliance programs and policies
· Experience of managing corporate risk
· Demonstrated ability to provide guidance on governance related topics
· Proven track record of providing cross-functional legal advice across an organization
· Proven track record of effectively managing a multitude of stakeholders of varying seniority and engendering trust in the legal team across the business
Required Skills
· UK qualified with knowledge and experience across sports-related (general entertainment experience may also be considered) legal topics
· Strong, collaborative cross-functional business partner.
· Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, educate and inform broad internal and external audiences
· An emphatic character operating as an integral party of the team, not as an arm's length advisor
· A person of integrity and strength of character, never wavering from the company's commitment to quality
· Effective problem solver with the ability to think strategically and focus on details
· Knowledge and passion for the professional sports industry is a bonus
· Ability to manage and lead multiple competing demands
