The Marketing Intern will be responsible for supporting the execution of digital marketing campaigns related to growing the number of golfers with a Handicap Index. This includes internally supported marketing campaigns as well as campaigns that are planned and executed by the USGA’s media agency of record. They will also support media buys with our endemic media partners. The intern will also help coordinate email marketing efforts, including assisting with the development of email campaigns with third-party vendors. Additionally, the intern will play a key role in developing creative briefs and working with the creative services team to support the USGA’s marketing campaigns.
This role will maintain a broad view across digital performance marketing levers including affiliate marketing, search marketing, programmatic and social media advertising. The intern will be expected to not only help execute these tactics but use their analytical and organizational skills to report on these campaigns.
Paid Campaign Management
Support paid marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels, including social media, SEM, affiliate and display. Act as liaison with account directors, internal departments, creative team and agency. Create and manage timelines and project delivery; identify audiences and segmentation.Craft marketing content including email copy, Google search content, social media ads, banner ads and other retargeting efforts. Partner with creative services and account leads to craft assets, A/B test, evaluate and optimize for best results. Identify new opportunities for growth, focusing on critical metrics for USGA products, tickets, handicap registrations, new audience growth, and engagement.
Reporting
Analyze marketing campaign performance and trends. Produce and present reports to understand effectiveness, and showcase the marketing team’s efforts and ROI on a predetermined cadence. Identify successes and areas to improve, set benchmarks for future campaigns and share findings across departments.
What You Bring to the USGA:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. Junior or Senior standing is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems quickly.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of the sports and golf landscape, especially on social media
- Familiarity with influencer marketing especially as it relates to creators focused on golf content
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Analytical skills to interpret data and draw insights.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital advertising platforms (Meta ads, Google ads, Twitter ads, YouTube ads, CTV, etc.)
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot is preferred.
- Basic understanding of Google Analytics.
