The Associate Specialist Transportation plays a critical role in ensuring our key customers (internal and external) receiving complete shipments. This position focuses on outbound domestic Less than Truckload and Truckload shipments. They report to the Transportation Manager, and is based in our distribution facility in Evansville, IN.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with strategic account routing using the customers transportation management system
- Process direct to store routing for strategic accounts following vendor guidelines
- Investigate and resolve shipment conflicts
- Act as liaison between transportation providers in obtaining pick-up appointments and create bills of ladings for LTL and Truckload shipments
- Generate ASN’s and process EDI’s for customer who require them with all shipments
- File all paperwork for LTL and Truckload shipments
- Assist in electronic recordkeeping for shipments by scanning all related documents
- Handle freight discrepancies when weights do not match carrier claims
- Responsible for month end revenue validation efforts which includes providing copies of BOL’s or working with our logistics partners to provide 3rd party reporting.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with all levels.
- Proficient in ERP systems and reporting tools
- Basic understanding of transportation rules and regulations
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- High school diploma required; Bachelors degree preferred
- 2+ years of experience in distribution, shipping/receiving, logistics or transportation related role
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Combination of normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage, and warehouse conditions
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
