HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL
Join our dynamic team at Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club, the premier private golf destination in beautiful St. George, Utah. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head Golf Professional to contribute to the continued success and growth of our esteemed country club.
As the Head Golf Professional, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the golf course, ensuring a world-class experience for our members and guests. You will oversee various aspects, including staff management, customer service, and event coordination.
General Purpose:
Director of Golf will provide leadership, foster teamwork and supervise the entire Golf Operations Department. Duties will include but not be limited to: inventory control and merchandising, training and supervising of departmental staff, tee sheet and POS management, co-development and execution of marketing and promotion plans, development and execution of golf operations budget, management of group play, program development. Head Golf Professional will oversee the effective management of all department functions including range, outside service operations, tournaments and player programs, course marshaling, shop operations, and liaison with food & beverage. The Head Golf Professional will ensure the desired level of customer service is manifested consistently by all personnel.
Essential Duties:
- Staff Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of dedicated golf operations staff.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Performs payroll tasks as scheduled and makes adjustments prior to submitting to payroll. Monitors hours to maximize productivity and minimize overtime.
- Provides leadership and vision to golf staff, building people, and preparing them for career advancement.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to members and guests, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.
- Creates a customer service-oriented atmosphere that promotes the game of golf and meets the needs of the members.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of customer service strategies to enhance the overall golf experience.
- Operations:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the golf course including tee time management, golf shop operations, player services and range operations, and cart fleet management.
- Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
- Work closely with the golf maintenance/agronomy team to ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards.
Event Coordination:
- Coordinate and execute golf events, tournaments, and special promotions.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote events and attract new members.
- Works closely with the Superintendent and the Food and Beverage Manager on a regular basis to ensure timely communication and to establish a good working relationship.
- Financial Management:
- Assist in budgeting and financial planning for the golf course.
- Prepare the Club’s golf operations budget planning processes including annual operating goals and Golf Shop ROI.
- Provide requested financial reports regarding golf activities.
- Ensure the proper and timely collection of all charges and fees associated with all golf activities.
- Manage golf shop purchasing, merchandising, and inventory control.
- Monitor revenue streams, expenses, and financial performance.
Other Duties
- Regulate starting times and monitor speed of play for tournaments, outings, regular daily play, and group play, assuring equity amongst all.
- Manage projects as assigned by the General Manager.
- Regularly attend Golf Committee meetings as the designated staff representative.
- Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations, and Club policies, By-laws, rules and regulations.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Class A member of PGA/LPGA
- 3-5 years of experience in golf course management or a related industry.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledge of golf industry trends, rules, and regulations.
- Proficient in MS Office and golf management software.

Decision Making Authority:
The Director of Golf is expected to exercise good judgement and common sense in making decisions concerning the day-to-day operation of Entrada Country Club golf programs and activities and are consistent with the prevailing department and Club policies.
