POSITION PURPOSE:
Controls pace of play on golf course by directing players to the first tee at appropriate times. Maintain accurate tee sheet records.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides information regarding course, including course conditions, play time and other golf-related issues. Arranges players in proper starting order and assigns appropriate tees.
- Verifies that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players or having players sign in at the first tee before they depart to course, practice tee or range.
- Keeps Golf Professional or designated assistant informed regarding rate of course play.
- Under direction of Golf Professional or designated assistant, maintains pace of play.
- Maintains clean and orderly appearance of starter's booth at all times.
- Supplies players with score cards, pencils and rules of play. Explains Laser Link system.
- Maintains accurate tee sheet records.
- Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur.
- Ensure driving range is in good operational condition at all times.
- Assists with organization and production of tournament events, group outings and other special events as needed.
Other:
- Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the company from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Associates with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- Due to the cyclical nature of our industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company.
- Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with the company's rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the facilities. Associates who violate the rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
- In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the property.
- Direct communications with Pro Shop and Cart Barn, Ensures that members' and guests' bags are appropriately placed in carts

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to grasp, lift, push/pull, carry or transport up to 50 lbs. Ability to push/pull wheeled carts weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoops, kneels, reach with hands and arms.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions: rain, sun, sleet, cold and hot weather.
- Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
- Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at a normal speaking level and make fine discriminations in sound.
- Ability to have visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education:
- Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High School education required.
Experience:
- Have worked at least one (1) year in outside golf operations.
Licenses or Certificates:
- CPR Certified preferred.
- Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates.
Grooming:
- All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards outlined in employee handbook).
Other:
- Full-time associates must schedule vacations during the off-season months.
- Proper uniform must be worn while on duty.
