This position requires a degreed engineer with experience in CNC Machining. Specifically, this role will require strong CAD/CAM skills, experience in producing 5 axis machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Also demonstrates a strong work ethic and consistently executes quality work.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Performs frequent and complex 5 axis CNC programming on high end 5 axis CNC machines with focus on machine efficiency and part quality.
- Collaborates closely with design engineers on part design and creatively enables new design concepts in finished machined parts.
- Designs, fabricates and maintains tooling; actively participates in the specification, research and selection of production equipment.
- Capable with setup and operation of 3 and 4 axis CNC mills, CNC turning, milling and EDM Wire machines to produce quality parts based on provided specifications.
- Close tolerance machining and inspection experience.
- Communicates clearly with engineers and planners daily to assure accurate schedules.
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying and implementing ways to reduce set up times and identify potential cost reductions in regards to product design.
- Solves tooling issues by identifying productivity of tooling, evaluating tooling performance, and evaluating new tooling requirements.
- Provides training to Machinists and Programmers at the direction of CNC manager.
- Recommends program changes and submits program change requests to programmers/engineers.
- Assists in the maintenance of a detailed program database including revision dates, program revision and/or improved method record.
- Supports patent activity to protect intellectual property and evaluate new designs in terms of patentability or patent infringement.
- Interfaces and supports all internal departments to maintain common goals.
- Support and assist with machine preventative maintenance program as required.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of math operations such as trigonometry and geometry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluent in English
- Computer proficient with the use of specialty software, including Creo CAD/CAM or NX programming software
- Demonstrated ability to read complex blueprints and determine the best method for manufacturing components
- Ability to use, operate and apply a range of precision inspection instruments and devices
- Understanding of calibration cycles of test tools
- Experience with precision measuring tools; able to choose tooling for all types of geometries and applications; knowledge in tooling manufacturer’s insert grades and tool holders
- Commitment to high quality standards and continuous improvements
- Organized, ability to multi-task, and self-starter.
- Experience using Wire EDM
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or similar
- 1-3 years of engineering experience
- 3-5 years experience CNC programming skills and all aspects of close tolerance machining
- Experience in advanced 5-axis programming with NX, Creo or similar CAM software is required
- Experience/Passion for the game of golf is a plus
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and engage in repetitive pushing/pulling actions
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Must be willing to wear required safety protection gear
- Requires constant visual awareness due to moving parts in machine shop
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed

We consider many factors in determining base compensation, including position scope, job related knowledge, education, skills, experience, and work location. The expected pay range for this position is $77,000 - $80,000 per year. Additional benefits, such as health & wellness, performance bonuses, product discounts, holidays, paid time off, etc. may also be offered in accordance with our plans.
