JOB OVERVIEW
The Production Planner’s responsibilities include being the “Gatekeeper” for all orders being released to the floor from the Command Center (CC) and managing the flow to the different pick lines throughout the building. Oversees the work in progress (WIP) based on the capacity and capability of the operation they support, including prioritizing the correct orders into the flow at the right time.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help identify, initiate, and implement continual process improvement activities to optimize efficiency and reduce cost
- Understand WIP flow and controls through each operational area to help with daily and monthly planning to meet targeted goals
- Leverage SAP/EWM and report to keep channels within designated service windows to prevent aged deliveries
- Understanding capacity and driving product flow through each area of the operation
- Understanding of storage and inventory levels, as well as specific timelines for execution
- Follow up on urgent order buckets to maintain our cycle time daily
- Ensuring orders are ready for critical accounts at the start of ship windows
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for issues holding deliveries from flowing through the process
- Manages demand and solves problems that arise in the distribution of Callaway products
- Manages changes to distribution plans as determined by supply and/or demand
- Interact with Planning/Sales, Traffic, Order Management, Customer Service, Accounting, Production, and other departments and pass valuable information along to department and key personnel
- Must manage several priorities effectively and identify and recommend the best course of action from several alternatives
- Acts as liaison between Ops MGMT & Routing Coordinators
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of management and external contacts
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a rapidly changing environment is mandatory
- High degree of initiative, ownership, diligence, and discipline to follow through on assigned tasks
- Strong ability to analyze detail and perform structured decision-making daily
- Exceptional knowledge of various software tools; SAP, Business Objects, Business Warehouse, and WMS systems
- Expert knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel, and PowerPoint, for effective management reporting and presentation
- Will be required to apply scheduling, planning, and control principles and concepts in the execution of duties
- Must manage several priorities effectively and identify and recommend the best course of action from several alternatives
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a field relevant to the job description (e.g., Operations, Materials Management, Industrial Engineering) or equivalent job experience
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in Production Planning or related field
