The Performance Testing internship opportunity will design, conduct, and analyze experimental approaches to replicate adverse conditions witnessed on the course within our controlled test environments. You will create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for how to test each club in the bag in adverse conditions such as wet, rough, that aligns with experimentally collected data. Reports detailing experimental approach and statistical alignment verifying designed SOPs should be expected.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Experimental design and data collection (outdoors with players and indoors within our test environment; including use of our robot)
- Rigorous analysis and understanding of experimental results to drive next steps
- Programming to manipulate, store, analyze, and report data
- Frequent interaction with stakeholders from multiple small teams within RDE (i.e. ball team, irons, MW, wedge, etc.)
- Proper documentation, storage, and reporting of techniques / approaches / pertinent data
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical, reasoning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work across cross functional teams and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks
- Passion for sports required, fundamental understanding of/experience playing golf highly preferred
- Practical knowledge and experience in experiment design, data collection and measurement techniques (experimental rigor)
- Expertise in statistical analysis and physics (ability to understand test results and drive decision/next steps
- Curiosity and desire to solve challenging and unique problems with efficiency and attention to detail
- Experience with MATLAB
- Expectations are you will be available onsite for the entirety of our summer internship program: Dates are from 6/16/2025 - 8/15/2025
Education, Work Experience, and Professional Certifications:
- Undergraduate, completed junior or senior year of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
- Normal office conditions with extensive computer and phone usage.
- Ability to work extended hours as necessary.
- Able to work efficiently and accurately in an atmosphere of frequent interruption.
- Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
- Frequent travel may be required.
