About The Club at Castlewood: We are very excited to announce a new chapter for Castlewood and our members as we rebuild, remodel and reimagine a new experience.
The Club at Castlewood has a very rich history that started when George and Phoebe Hearst purchased and built the Hacienda del Pozo De Verona in 1891. In 1926, the Hill Golf Course was added and Castlewood Country Club was born. After a fire destroyed the original Clubhouse in 1969, Castlewood was rebuilt in the early 1970s and has remained essentially the same ever since. After nearly 50 years, the members of Castlewood have voted to invest in their Club and revitalize its facilities. The goal of the renovation project is to provide its current and future members with a remodeled Clubhouse and new Sports Center that will provide a safe, fun and attractive environment in which members can relax and socialize with family, friends and business associates.
The remodel of the existing Clubhouse and new Sports Center will complement the two world-class golf courses you currently enjoy. Castlewood will be the place you will want to bring your family to enjoy the day, have a great meal or hold your next business meeting. The renovation plans include a remodel of the existing Clubhouse and the construction of a new 3,500 square foot Sports Center for swimming, tennis and bocce. All ADA issues will be completely resolved. The new Sports Center will include two new swimming pools, tennis and swim pro shop, multi-purpose activity center and an outdoor terrace and deck seating area. The new Sports Center commercial kitchen and Grille Bar will enhance the pool area dining experience.
Position Summary: The Executive Chef requires a culinary leader to manage 3+ outlets and significant banquet space to exceed the expectations of more than 800 members and growing. The Executive Chef will be able to execute operations at the highest-level while being a strong part of the cultural leadership for the F&B team. He/she is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen(s), ensuring the highest standards of menu creation and preparation, and providing exceptional leadership and management to the culinary team and kitchens. This highly visible role requires strong member relations skills and an ability to deliver industry leading dining experiences across a spectrum of concepts. This is a position for a proven leader with business acumen that matches outstanding culinary and leadership skills.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in culinary arts from an industry recognized culinary institution, 5 or more years of progressive, senior management level culinary management experience, CEC designation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar country club or luxury environment. The candidate must have a demonstrated and verifiable career path of successful culinary expertise, professional achievements including staff development, management skills and leadership strength. The Executive Chef will be required to work effectively within an established team of department managers, be an effective leader who fosters a positive, cooperative and cohesive team environment and is able to build and maintain professional connections with fellow associates and interact with club members. Strong member relations and communication skills are imperative as well as the ability to manage opportunities for improvement and implement effective solutions with ease. The candidate must have energy and enthusiasm for the culinary arts and private club business.
The Executive Chef reports directly to the Food and Beverage Director and is responsible for direct supervision of the Sous Chef’s, Stewarding and other kitchen personnel. He/she will have direct oversight of two restaurants including the production kitchen, stewarding function, catering and events as well as the high volume fine and casual dining/banquet dining venues generating revenues exceeding four million dollars.
