We are looking for a skilled Data Scientist to join our Research and Development Team. The Data Scientist with play a key role in advancing the understanding of golfers and product performance with a focus on the needs of professional golfers and high performance players. In multiple areas, they will be asked to identify, design, and implement internal processes: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing existing processes for better data flow and accuracy. Their quantitative findings thru the creation of software tools and analysis techniques will help identify areas for product advancements in golf clubs and golf balls. The right candidate will also enjoy learning and keeping up to date on modern techniques and technologies to unlock new findings.

• Develop tools that automate the processing and visualization of player testing / equipment performance data to enable the best outcome based analysis.
• Develop tools that automate the processing of golf ball lab test data in regard to pass/fail test criteria while maintaining a historical comparison.
• Work with engineers to develop new innovative research methods and tools for golf equipment evaluation applications that would involve new programming or analysis scripts. This can take place at the Ely Callaway Performance Center and/or on the golf course.
• Develop and maintain databases of player test metrics and equipment specs that can be mined for advanced R&D functions.
• Use your technical capability to improve data analysis efficiency and automation of test results.
• Analyze large, noisy datasets and identify meaningful patterns that provide actionable results.
• Document and present project findings, status, and timelines in project reviews / summaries.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Comfort manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources.
• Fluency with scripting languages
• Excellent at solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
• Programming / coding ability required (Python preferred). Data Scraping is a plus.
• Various statistical / analytical skills and software experience (Minitab or equivalent).
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, required. Power BI and Access are a plus.
• Comfortable manipulating and analyzing data from varying sources.
• Strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an attention to detail.
• Some basic understanding of golf principles and terminology in the game is preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Data Scientist/Analyst/Engineering type role
• Experience organizing disperse datasets across different platforms
• Experience with BI and Reporting Tools
