Founded in 1878 by a few enthusiasts, Troon Golf Club soon outgrew its purely local reputation. Today, the Club is known as Royal Troon after being granted ‘Royal’ status by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to mark the Club’s centenary year in 1978.
A name known throughout the world of golf, Royal Troon has hosted The Open on nine occasions, with winners such as the great Arnold Palmer and five-time Open Champion Tom Watson. Golf’s oldest major championship will return for a tenth time in 2024. Most recently, the AIG Women’s Open in 2020 marked an exciting new chapter in the Club’s history being the first professional women’s event to be held at Troon.
Home to three wonderful golf courses, state-of-the-art practice facilities and a stunning Clubhouse, Royal Troon Golf Club strives to provide its Members and Visitors with a world-class experience both on and off the course.
