The Golf Jobs 150th Open Experience

Golf Jobs attended the 150th Open taking away memories to last a lifetime.

With the sun shining brightly on St Andrews and with the course in immaculate conditions we were treated to the best golf the world has to offer. There was an atmosphere full of buzz and energy as fans from around the globe came together to watch the world’s best in action and celebrate the 150th Open championship being played at golf’s most iconic venue.

Golf Jobs at The 150th Open

We have to say a huge congratulations to the St Andrews Links greens team. The Old Course looked pristine with the greens playing fast and firm providing us with some very entertaining golf and a great competition. Well done to Gordon McKie and the team for their dedication and hard work for maintaining such a legendary course to the highest standard. And a big shout out to everybody working or volunteering at this year’s Open. The whole event was run brilliantly and was an amazing experience all round!

The Open Grandstands

It was great to see all the sustainability initiatives set up by The R&A including The Open Water Initiative which had plenty of Bluewater refill points located throughout which were much needed in the warm sunny conditions and it was excellent to see the use of Mercedes-Benz Electric Vehicles to transport players and personnel around the site. And with the summer sun shining there was an even greater need to apply sunscreen. A wonderful initiative set up by the Melanoma Fund provided spectators with sunscreen stations supplying people with much needed sun lotion and vital information about the importance of looking after your skin. Well done Michelle Baker and the Melanoma Fund team.

Melanoma Fund The Open

We enjoyed spending time in the Scorers Suite. The atmosphere was palpable, and it was a great place to seek some shade and refreshment for a while and still be in the thick of things. Located in the Spectator Village and being so close to the 16th tee, it was a fantastic place to soak up the environment and keep up to date with the scores around the course. It was good to see so many people taking up the free 15-minute lessons at The R&A Swing Zone located within in Spectator Village and great to see so many passionate PGA Professionals taking part.

Scorers The Open

Lastly, we have to say a huge congratulations to Cameron Smith for his incredible win, taking home the Claret Jug after an epic battle on the Old Course. It was great to see the world’s best golfers battle it out for the coveted prize and of being crowned Champion Golfer of the Year, but Cameron came out on top and deservedly takes his first Major win. Congratulations Cam, what a fantastic performance!
